You Are Sure to Have a Dog-Gone Good Time During This Performance of Sylvia
Pet lovers will not want to miss the latest show at the Sheldon Vexler Theatre! Sylvia, a modern romantic comedy about a marriage and a dog, will intrigue you with its complexities and ultimate resolve. The performance will unfold Saturday, November 3rd, at 8:00 p.m.
Greg and Kate have moved to Manhattan after twenty-two years of child-raising in the suburbs. Greg brings home a dog he found in the park – or that has found him. A street-smart mixture of Lab and Poodle, Sylvia becomes a rival for his affection and a major bone of contention between husband and wife. The marriage is put in serious jeopardy until, after a series of hilarious and touching complications, Greg and Kate learn to compromise, and Sylvia becomes a valued part of their lives.
"I can only call [Sylvia] one of the most involving, beautiful, funny, touching and profound plays I have ever seen…" — NY Daily News
Sylvia, written by A.R. Gurney, debuted off-Broadway in 1995 and included Sarah Jessica Parker as the title character, Blythe Danner, and Charles Kimbrough. The play received several award nominations and spawned subsequent runs of the show at venues in Los Angeles and Stockbridge, Massachusetts. The play’s first official Broadway production hit the Cort Theatre in 2015.
